ABOUT
Pacific Northwest Private Equity with a Personal Touch
Bochi Investments is a Pacific Northwest private equity firm dedicated exclusively to the region's underserved lower middle market. We specialize in control buyouts and selective growth equity investments in profitable businesses generating $3 - $20 million in EBITDA.
Hyperlocal by Design. While mega-funds chase massive deals, we've built our strategy around a simple principle: focus on quality Pacific Northwest companies that others overlook. Our hyperlocal approach isn't just about geography—it's about relationships. This dedicated focus on our specific market segment allows us to build authentic, long-term partnerships with founders and management teams who are either planning succession or seeking growth capital to take their businesses to the next level.
Backstory. Bochi's story begins with a friendship that started in Tokyo in the early 1980s, when founders Drew Little and J.B. Handley met as 12-year-olds. Drew's father worked for Alcoa, while J.B.'s father was with the CIA. Our name comes from "Bochi"—the nickname for the train station near the American School In Japan, a daily landmark that connected them to their shared experiences abroad. That foundation of trust and shared perspective now extends to our entire team. Today, Bochi is a partnership of five professionals, each bringing diverse experiences and complementary skills that strengthen our investment strategy and ability to serve our portfolio companies.
We're Different. Bochi operates as a hybrid between a family office and an independent sponsor. We invest our own capital while also forming SPVs and bringing outside investors into our deals when it makes sense. This structure gives us flexibility that traditional private equity firms simply can't match:
Investment Flexibility
Minority or majority positions based on what works best for the business
Patient capital with flexible time horizons—we're comfortable holding investments for 10+ years
Investment range from $500,000 to $50 million, scaling to fit the opportunity
Partnership Approach
Direct access to decision-makers without layers of bureaucracy
Aligned interests through our own capital at risk
Long-term relationship focus rather than quick exits
Investment Focus. We actively seek partnerships with companies that fit our core criteria:
Market Position
Lower middle market companies generating $3 - $20 million in EBITDA
Businesses generating consistent profitability with growth potential
Companies seeking either succession planning solutions or growth capital
Sector Expertise
Consumer goods and services
Industrial and manufacturing
Business and consumer services
